I used to think something was wrong with me. But being out of step with music that everyone else can hear so clearly. People talked about chemistry, like it was undeniable, urgent, and necessary. For me it just wasn’t. That’s when I started questioning myself. Was I broken, guarded, afraid? Or was I just different? It didn’t come to me right away. It took time. It took late night thoughts and moments of honesty I couldn’t avoid anymore. But when I finally found it- asexual, involuntary celibacy, something in me settled. Not because it boxed me in, because it sent me free. For the first time, I realized I didn’t owe anyone desire. I don’t have to perform attraction to be valid. I don’t have to explain why I’m not driven by the same thing. My experience wasn’t missing something. It was just its own version of complete. Being a ------ for me isn’t about lack, it’s about clarity. It’s about choosing connections in ways that feel real, like conversation, trust, energy, and presence. It’s knowing that intimacy is it limited to physical expression. There are deeper layers and I’ve learned to live in them fully. Some people just don’t understand, some people just assume I am doing it on purpose, or that is is temporary and I will change my mind. But this isn’t confusion it’s alignment. There’s a certain kind of piece that comes with that. A quiet confidence. I’m not chasing something I don’t feel. I’m not measuring myself against expectations that will never mind to begin with.
