LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE...

I HAVE CRIED FOR 5 NIGHTS
BECAUSE I'VE MISSED YOU SO
EVEN THOUGH YOU LEFT ME
QUITE SOME TIME AGO

I THOUGHT I MISSED YOUR KINDNESS
I THOUGHT I MISSED YOUR WIT
I THOUGHT I MISSED YOUR TENDERNESS
BUT WHAT I JUST DON'T GET

IS WHO THE HELL THAT YOU BECAME
AFTER I GAVE YOU MY HEART
AND WHY YOU DID NOT
CHANGE YOUR NAME
WHEN YOUR PERSONALITIES
SPLIT APART

THAT WOULD AT LEAST
MAKE IT EASIER
TO KNOW WHO I'VE REALLY MISSED
THE PERSON YOU MADE ME
BELIEVE YOU WERE
OR THE ONE WHO WAS
ALWAYS PISSED!

I WALKED IN THE GARDEN
ONE MORNING
AFTER A BRIEF
CLEANSING RAIN
I WONDERED IF MY WORLD
WOULD EVER AGAIN BE SANE
I SEARCHED THE MANY BLOSSOMS
AND MY ACHING HEART FROZE
GOD MUST HAVE BEEN LISTENING
BECAUSE I SAW HIS TEARS
WERE ON A ROSE
I FELT SO BAD
TO HAVE MADE HIM CRY
I WIPED A TEAR
FROM MY OWN SAD EYE
THE ROSE'S HEAD
WAS BOWED IN PRAYER
AS THOUGH NATURE SENSED
MY DEEP DISPAIR

I TRIED TO COMFORT GOD
I SAID MY TROUBLES WERE SMALL
HE LOOKED AT ME KINDLY,
"NO MY CHILD, NOT AT ALL!
YOUR HEART IS VERY PRECIOUS
YOUR TROUBLES BELONG TO ME
LET ME LIFT THEM FROM
YOUR SHOULDERS
AND ALLOW YOUR EYES TO SEE
THAT YOU ARE ONE OF
MY FLOWERS
IN THE GARDEN THAT I TEND
I WILL SEE YOU HAPPY SOON
AND HELP YOUR HEART TO MEND
MY TEARS WERE SENT TO WASH AWAY
THE GRIEF THAT HAUNTS YOUR SOUL
BLESSINGS DEAREST CHILD OF LIGHT
I CAME TO MAKE YOU WHOLE!"

I STROKED THE TEARS FROM
THE ROSE'S PETALS
LIFTING IT'S LOVELY HEAD
AND AS I DID I FELT AS IF
MY SOUL HAD JUST BEEN FED.
BURDENS FLOATED FROM ME
JOY REPLACED DISPARE
THE TEARS ON
THE ROSE WERE GONE
SO I SAID A SILENT PRAYER
"THANK YOU
FOR YOUR
HELP MY LORD
FOR TAKING ALL MY FEARS
AND STOPPING BY HERE
LONG ENOUGH TO
WASH ME
IN YOUR TEARS..."

BUFFALO

THE HASTY LIFE
SLASHES THE LUSH EARTH

CAPTURED TRACKS
ON ANCIENT LAND

PRIMAL BROKEN GRASS
DRIPS ITS DELICIOUS DEW

SOMEWHERE
ANIMALS WAIT BY A RIVER

IN A HUSHED MEADOWY EVENING
WATCHING

CHILD OF MY HEART

I CALL HER DAUGHTER

AND SHE CALLS ME MOM

WE ARE NOT RELATED

BY SCARLET DROPS

OR DNA

RATHER WE ARE CONNECTED

HEART TO HEART

HAVING SOLIDIFIED OUR UNION

AS PARENT AND CHILD

IN HER 17TH YEAR

SHE LOST BOTH HER PARENTS

IN THE SAME YEAR

AND WANTED TO FIND

A SAFE PLACE TO STAY

AWAY FROM THE DRINK AND DRUGS

OF HER PEERS' LIVING SITUATIONS

a CLOSE FRIEND TOLD ME

OF HER PLIGHT

WE MET AT A FAST FOOD JOINT

I RECOGNIZED HER RIGHT AWAY

AND KNEW SHE WAS SUPPOSE

TO BE WITH ME

I THOUGHT PERHAPS

FOR JUST A SHORT WHILE

THINKING SHE WOULD

MOVE ON WITHOUT ME SOON

BUT SHE WAS SO WORTH MY TIME

THAT I FORGAVE HER IN ADVANCE

I WATCHED HER WORK

AND GO TO SCHOOL

AND GET HER CAREER

IN RECORD TIME

I WATCHED HER

FALL IN LOVE

AND MARRY HER PRINCE

AND STILL SHE STAYED...

WE HAVE LENT OUR SHOULDERS

SHE AND I

EACH TO THE OTHER

OVER THE YEARS AND STILL

SHE SHARES HER CHILDREN

AND HER HEART FREELY

WITH HER FOSTER MOM

A CHILDLESS WOMAN

WHO NEEDS HER MORE

THAN SHE'S EVER NEEDED ME

I've been loney most of the day

even though

I have had several calls

from friends and family

so I think I'll remember

a time when I had

a full heart and a full house

and some really great

soup on the stove

and sip the comfort

of a pleasant yesterday

until it fills the very

hungry spot in my soul

with a whole handfull

of warm fuzzys...

WHITE RUNNING FAWN
(sacred sister under the skin)

WHITE RUNNING FAWN
STOOD ON THE MOUNTAIN
PEACEFULLY WAITING
TO MEET THE DAWN

SHE SAW THE EAGLE SAIL
SHE WATCHED THE HORSES RUN
THE MORNING SKY WAS PALE
HER DAY HAD JUST BEGUN

THE WIND WAS AT HER BACK
SUNLIGHT WAS IN HER EYE
SHE CARRIED A LEATHER PACK
AND FELT LIKE SHE COULD FLY

SHE LOVED THE SMELL
OF THE EARTHY SOIL
UNDERNEATH HER FEET
SHE NEVER THOUGHT
OF IT AS TOIL
TO WALK THE LAND
SO SWEET

I NEVER REALLY KNEW HER
BUT JUST LIKE HUMMING BIRDS
HER INDIAN SOUL FLEW HER
INTO MY HEART THROUGH WORDS

EPITAPH

TO ALL THE FRIENDS WHO HAVE GRACED MY HOME

WHAT I HOPE THE SUPREME BEING
WILL SAY TO ME
WHEN WE FINALLY MEET...

SHE WAS A VERY QUIRKY GAL
NON-JUDGEMENTAL, FAIR
AND IF YOU VISITED HER HOME
YOU COULD FIND PEACE THERE

SHE UNDERSTOOD SADNESS
SHE KNEW HOW TO CARE
AND IF YOU VISITED HER HOME
YOU COULD CRY THERE

SHE WAS AQUAINTED WITH ANGER
TELL IT ALL IF YOU DARE
BECAUSE IF YOU VISITED HER HOME
YOU COULD VENT THERE

SHE KNEW WELL OF "WEARY"
AND HOW SOMETIMES, "YOU DON'T CARE"
SO IF YOU VISITED HER HOME
YOU COULD SLEEP THERE

SHE HAD FELT AGONIZING PAIN
SO IF YOU HURT EVERYWHERE
YOU COULD VISIT HER HOME
AND FIND COMFORT THERE

SHE HAD KNOWN MUCH HAPPINESS
SO TO SMILE, LAUGH AND SHARE
YOU COULD VISIT HER HOME
AND FIND JOY THERE

SHE KNEW JUST HOW TO PRAY
SO IF YOUR SOUL WAS IN DISPARE
YOU COULD VISIT HER HOME
AND FIND YOUR GOD THERE

SHE HAD LOST HER HOME MANY TIMES BEFORE
NO MATTER... SHE HAD OPEN ARMS, A PAIR
SO YOU COULD VISIT HER STRONG EMBRACE
AND ALWAYS...BE WELCOME THERE...

regarding the loss of a lover...

sometimes our current partner
has a journey that veers them
away from us
onto a different path

that is ok
because it is often necessary
to clear our vision so we can
find our own new path
to the more compatible companion
that we need to have in our own life...

the one who will know how
to meet our needs
gracefully

if you play back the video
of the last time you
broke up with someone
(my form of time travel)
you will see that you have
felt this way before
and that you got through it alright
then...
as you will now.

remember, your goal is
to be constantly traveling
toward enlightenment

do not run from it
embrace the surprises
that will be
waiting for you
tomorrow

wish your former partner joy
on their journey into the future
that awaits them

love that person from a distance
for being the one
who gave you the opportunity
to grow into your future...

because actually
it was a gift that they left
wasn't it?

I hope this is legible. Emerson is amazing...

Higher far,
Upward, into the pure realm,
Over sun or star,
Over the flickering Dæmon film,
Thou must mount for love,—
Into vision which all form
In one only form dissolves;
In a region where the wheel,
On which all beings ride,
Visibly revolves;
Where the starred eternal worm
Girds the world with bound and term;
Where unlike things are like,
When good and ill,
And joy and moan,
Melt into one.
There Past, Present, Future, shoot
Triple blossoms from one root
Substances at base divided
In their summits are united,
There the holy Essence rolls,
One through separated souls,
And the sunny Æon sleeps
Folding nature in its deeps,
And every fair and every good
Known in part or known impure
To men below,
In their archetypes endure.

The race of gods,
Or those we erring own,
Are shadows flitting up and down
In the still abodes.
The circles of that sea are laws,
Which publish and which hide the Cause.
Pray for a beam
Out of that sphere
Thee to guide and to redeem.
O what a load
Of care and toil
By lying Use bestowed,
From his shoulders falls, who sees
The true astronomy,
The period of peace!
Counsel which the ages kept,
Shall the well-born soul accept.
As the overhanging trees
Fill the lake with images,
As garment draws the garment's hem
Men their fortunes bring with them;
By right or wrong,
Lands and goods go to the strong;
Property will brutely draw
Still to the proprietor,
Silver to silver creep and wind,
And kind to kind,
Nor less the eternal poles
Of tendency distribute souls.
There need no vows to bind
Whom not each other seek but find.
They give and take no pledge or oath,
Nature is the bond of both.
No prayer persuades, no flattery fawns,
Their noble meanings are their pawns.
Plain and cold is their address,
Power have they for tenderness,
And so thoroughly is known
Each others' purpose by his own,
They can parley without meeting,
Need is none of forms of greeting,
They can well communicate
In their innermost estate;
When each the other shall avoid,
Shall each by each be most enjoyed.
Not with scarfs or perfumed gloves
Do these celebrate their loves,
Not by jewels, feasts, and savors,
Not by ribbons or by favors,
But by the sun-spark on the sea,
And the cloud-shadow on the lea,
The soothing lapse of morn to mirk,
And the cheerful round of work.
Their cords of love so public are,
They intertwine the farthest star.
The throbbing sea, the quaking earth,
Yield sympathy and signs of mirth;
Is none so high, so mean is none,
But feels and seals this union.
Even the tell Furies are appeased,
The good applaud, the lost are eased.

Love's hearts are faithful, but not fond,
Bound for the just, but not beyond;
Not glad, as the low-loving herd,
Of self in others still preferred,
But they have heartily designed
The benefit of broad mankind.
And they serve men austerely,
After their own genius, clearly,
Without a false humility;
For this is love's nobility,
Not to scatter bread and gold,
Goods and raiment bought and sold,
But to hold fast his simple sense,
And speak the speech of innocence,
And with hand, and body, and blood,
To make his bosom-counsel good:
For he that feeds men, serveth few,
He serves all, who dares be true.
