So, hello everyone. My name is Alyssa, I'm 24 and I've recently found the term that descibes my s----lity...asexual. And it feels pretty damn good. I had discovered the term about a year ago, but didn't think that was me. Family member and friends had helped to convince me that I was just afraid of sex, and I truly believed that, but I spent the last year doing a lot of soul searching, and I realize now that I'm not afraid of sex, and I just don't want to do it. I'm still a bit of a hopeless romantic though (Jane Austen is love), so it's kind of interesting for me to see if there is anyone else in the same boat. Well, that's my position in a nutshell, so feel free to message me if you have questions/comments...I swear I'm one of the nice New Yorkers

`I guess friends and family can be a curse as well as a blessing in situations like that, trying to find a pigeon hole they can slot you in to. They're not being malevolent, but rather just trying to figure you out as you don't fit 'the norm'.
Well done you for not caving in and admitting (if only to yourself) that you're not ready to enter a s----l relationship. perhaps you'll change in time but that's just it, you change when you feel comfortable with the idea. You can have romance/be romantic without going all the way and if that suits you then be happy with your decisions and with yourself.
take care!
